Baobab School
Baobab School is a primary school in Gaborone West, Botswana. We form part of the Curro group and provide an excellent education to learners from Reception (4,5 years) to Standard 7. We limit our class sizes to make sure learners get personal attention, and they benefit from having French and Robotics as subjects. Our goal is to give our learners a well-rounded education that will help them grow to become compassionate, committed leaders in their community.
Reception to Standard 3
We understand that learners just starting in Reception phase are still young children. That is why our specialised educational programmes are approached in a way that still allows these learners to play. These specialised programmes include the following:
- Phonological awareness – this is taught in small groups and includes interactive games to make learning fun
- Letterland literacy – this teaches phonics through music, songs, movement, and story-telling
- Heinemann Mathematics – this teaches thinking patterns that form the basis of creative problem-solving
Teaching takes place in English, while Setswana and French are also offered as language subjects. Other subjects include Robotics, Coding, music, and more.
Standard 4 to Standard 7
In the upper school phase, we follow the Botswana PSLE (Primary School Leaving Examination) syllabus. We gradually help learners move from the tangible, concrete world to more abstract work and independent thinking. Teaching takes place in English, while Setswana and French are also offered as language subjects. Some subjects, such as Robotics and Agriculture involve controlled experiments and practical elements that help learners understand the connection between book-learning and real life. We also offer many enrichment programmes as part of the school fees. These include music, library skills and 3D printing, while artificial intelligence (AI) are integrated in the core subjects.
Activities your child can enjoy
One part of our excellent education, is that academics are balanced with sports and cultural activities. Participation in activities promote team-awareness, collaboration, and self-confidence. Activities such as art and choir help learners develop the skills to gather their thoughts and express themselves in creative ways. Our focused variety of activities, such as chess and badminton, are tailored to the interests of learners in our area. Your child is sure to find something that will pique their interest.
